Equator Coffees' Chemex guide for two 12 oz cups: 45 g at 1:16, a 90 g bloom and three 210 g pours a minute apart.
- fold the Chemex filter into a cone and insert it into the brewer with three layers on the spout side; rinse with hot water then discard the water — this removes any paper taste and preheats the brewer
- grind the coffee on a medium-coarse setting, about the centre point on most grinders; place the grounds in the filter, tapping or lightly shaking to level them
- place the brewer on a scale and tare to 0
- 0:00start the timer and pour 90 g of hot water into the centre of the grounds to start the bloom90 g

Equator call for a Chemex paper filter folded three layers to the spout, rinsed with hot water and the rinse water discarded. The guide writes its water temperature as "just off boil at 205°" without naming a scale; Fahrenheit is the only reading the value admits. Total brew time is given as a 4–5 minute window rather than a point, so no finish time is recorded. Their pro tips scale the bloom to twice the dose and suggest 17:1 for a lighter brew.
