Equator Coffees — Drip Brewer

66 g → 1000 g · 1 : 15.2 · 204–205 °F · Medium-fine grind

Equator Coffees' guide for any drip coffee machine: one litre of filtered water to 66 g of medium-fine coffee, a 1:15 ratio.

  1. clean any loose coffee grounds off the exterior and interior of the machine
  2. review the machine's water-temperature setting — any temperature above 200° is workable and 204–205° is ideal — and set the volume to one litre; where the machine offers turbulence or flow settings such as bloom volume or flow rate, select the standard or medium option
  3. add a wide-bottom coffee filter, either a standard paper filter or the reusable filter that came with the machine, resting snug and flat against the interior of the brewer
  4. add the freshly ground coffee inside the filter and close the lid
  5. pour one litre of filtered water into the water tank, then turn on the machine, wait for preheating to conclude and start the brew; most standard drip brewers stop automatically when the brew is complete

Equator specify a flat-bottom cone filter, either paper or mesh, and do not rinse it. Because they state a choice rather than a filter, no filter is recorded — the reader picks one. The guide writes its water temperature as "204–205°" without naming a scale; Fahrenheit is the only reading the value admits, and the window is recorded as stated. The guide's own prose calls anything above 200° workable and suggests 208° for a very light single origin. This guide is written for the whole category rather than a named machine, so no brewer is recorded.
